When we receive your cat’s stool sample, we use our laboratory facilities to extract the DNA from all the bacteria in the sample. The fecal sample we ask for is about the size of a pea and will contain roughly one billion bacterial cells for us to analyze!
We then use powerful analytic software to interpret the results and provide the data to you via email and online in our easy to use Pet Portal dashboard. The report includes actionable personalized recommendations for how you can improve the nutrition and overall health of your cat.
When you access the Pet Portal to view your cat’s results, you can also see examples of microbiomes from other pets (if you are interested in comparing microbiome diversity). If you test your cat’s microbiome over time, you’ll be able to see any trends for your pet.
